Ladies and Gentlemen,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee supported by CIGRÉ National Committee of Croatia with CIGRÉ Study Committee A2 – Transformers, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb and the Centre of Excellence for Transformers in Zagreb, I would like to invite you to the 2nd International Colloquium “Transformer Research and Asset Management” in Dubrovnik from May 16 – 18, 2012.
The first Colloquium, held in Cavtat in 2009, has shown great interest of researchers and scientists all over the world. We had 147 participants from 20 countries who presented some of their latest work in the in the areas of distribution, power and instrument transformers. All the accepted papers (46) were presented in oral form.
The topics were chosen to give some answers to the actual position of the transformer industry including R&D trends and investigations of the Transformer Maintenance Life Cycle. For the second time the topics will cover:

1. Materials, Components and New Technologies
2. Numerical Modelling
3. Transformer Life Management

The sessions will be prepared in such a way as to support young researchers who have recently launched their careers as well as established experts, working in frontline areas in transformer science and practice.
We would like to express our thanks to the three invited speakers, Mr. Michael Krüger, Mr. Zhiguang Cheng and Mr. Richard P. Marek for their contributions to the proceedings.
We hope that the received papers and expected meeting discussions will deepen the knowledge of the most critical aspects of power and instruments transformers and its components like: transformer insulating materials, transformers oils, load tap changer, cooling system, failures, loading, diagnostic testing, on-line monitoring etc.
With visionary speakers, the Colloquium is hosting some of the most respected companies and will provide insight into one of the hottest transformer topics of recent times.
I invite you to join us for the scientific and competent technical discussions where the delegates will have the opportunity to network and develop their own contacts and introduce themselves to new trends and issues on modern power and instrument transformers. You will have the opportunity to see the progress from research activities to technological innovations by attending technical sessions on research findings and participating in panel discussions.
You will also be in the position to meet top transformer and transformer component related companies in the world at our exhibition area. So I invite them to join us as sponsors and also to present their technical and technological achievements in this area.
This colloquium is a unique opportunity to establish contacts with colleagues from around the world and to identify best transformer practices, so please do not waste this opportunity.
As a part of the “Centre of Excellence for Transformers” to be established at Zagreb University it is also a unique opportunity for pre- and post-graduate students to step up their knowledge and establish links with industrial, academic and research associates.

I am looking forward to see you in Dubrovnik on May 16-18, 2012.

Yours faithfully,
Miroslav Poljak, PhD
